Disney Catholic Wedding

Posted by Rev Tim under NEWS

I am getting married at Walt Disney World and would like to have a Catholic Service.  How do you handle that problem since I am told that Catholic Priests may not participate in weddings outside the church in this Diocese.

Julie

When the Catholic Diocese made that decision several years ago they asked me if I would do the Catholic Wedding Outside of Mass.  They sent me a copy of Together for Life, the Catholic Wedding Outside of Mass. I liked the service and purchased a large number of the books and send them to Catholic Couples who select their Scriptures and prayers and send the section in the back to me so I can write the service meeting their expectations.  If you would like a copy please let me know.

“Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue
And a silver sixpence in her shoe”

This good luck saying originated during the Victorian era.
Each item in this poem represents a good-luck token for the bride.

“Something old” symbolizes continuity to the bide’s family and the past.

“Something new” represents good fortune and success in the bride’s new life and optimism for the future.

“Something borrowed” symbolizes the love and support of family and friends in times of need.  It is usually an item from a happily married friend or family member, whose good fortune in marriagee is supposed to carry over to the new bride.

“Something blue” is an object that symbolizes faithfulness and loyalty.

“A silver sixpence in her Shoe” is a blessing for for wealth, for optimum fortune, the sixpence should be in the left shoe.
